1. PANDEMIC finished

Last night I emailed the final draft of PANDEMIC to my publisher at Random House. After this, the next thing that comes back are the line edits; an editor does a line-by-line grammar and continuity check. I go through these and approve or decline them (mostly approve), then send them back. After that, I get the “page galleys,” or 8.5x11 printouts that look exactly like what the hardcover page will look like. That’s the last chance to fix things, then it’s off to the printer.

So, the fiction-makin’ part of the book is done. Now we move into production. PANDEMIC is due out January 21, 2014.

This is the final book in the INFECTED trilogy.

  4. The final “war board” for PANDEMIC, my next novel for Random House (due out Jan. 2014). These are the final tweaks and fixes I need to do to make the book as tight as possible. We have a “Must Fix” column, then “Symptoms” to make sure the disease is consistent, then “Can Add” for things I’d really like to get in, and finally “Life Cycle” to, again, make sure the disease and its effects are consistent throughout the book.
I’m knocking out cards right now. A year’s worth of work has gone into this bad boy, and I’m trying to not get too excited and stay focused so I can finish it off right.

  5. thenerdythirdjerry asked: Son of a bitch, that sounds amazing. So can I borrow your Time Travel machine? I can't handle this 2014 date.

Handle it you will! Damn your eyes! (until 2014, of course, then un-damn them so you can read PANDEMIC).

  7. attackothefeels asked: I'm glad you started using tumblr! It's really cool to see all the stuff that piques your interest and see updates on what's going on. I don't use twitter, so it's great to see you here. Best of luck on wrapping up Pandemic! ^-^

PANDEMIC has been a beast to finish. Should be sending it off in the next few days, though. I’ll be posting more on the Tumblr, fo sho.

  9. toxic-cupcake asked: We did actually figure out the reason for the names, but that was the reaction as we listened to them for the first time. We were also halfway through a six pack and down a whole bottle of wine. It was a great night.

Awesome! Glad y’all had fun with it.
